Accelerating Growth

Wescast is moving into a strong position in Europe now operating as a full service business unit built on the strength of our innovative manifold designs for gasoline and diesel engines. The European Business Unit operates a state-of-the-art integrated casting and machining facility located in Oroszlány, Hungary and provides local support to our customers through sales and design offices in Germany, United Kingdom, and France.

A strong local presence in Europe gives us the focus and flexibility to react to the demands of the European automakers as we continue to increase our market share. We expect Hungary’s modern manufacturing capabilities to supply temperature-resistant materials will open more opportunities with new and existing customers. Our European Business Unit was recently successful in winning new business through Volkswagen AG. Our customer chose to replace the current fabricated manifold on their 2.5L I5 engine with our cast product despite the fact that the engine was not scheduled for a redesign. Effective teamwork and collaboration between Volkswagen AG, Wescast’s local teams and our Canadian Technical Development Centre, along with competitive production costs, were influencing factors in our customer’s decision to choose Wescast.

Wescast Hungary Zrt. currently offers exhaust manifolds, turbine housings and integrated turbo manifolds in many of the industry’s standard iron alloys, highlighting the strength of our European value proposition. We anticipate strong growth and the ability to offer a steady flow of innovative new solutions for the European automotive market.
